Pain Can Be Complex. Finding Local Treatment is Simple and Will Soon Get Even More Convenient.

Thompson Health, in partnership with UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance, provides orthopedic care in Canandaigua and Victor. In early 2022, patients will have yet another option for outstanding care in Canandaigua when a new orthopedic clinic opens in the old Wegmans plaza at the corners of Routes 5 & 20 and South Main Street.

The plaza, already home to Thompson’s Canandaigua Urgent Care, will host nine orthopedic surgeons, one doctor of osteopathy (DO), and two physician assistants (PAs) in its state-of-the-art clinic.

Later in 2022, Thompson will also relocate its hospital-based Rehabilitation Services department to the same plaza. With a comprehensive gym and therapy pool on site, rehabilitation staff will partner with the orthopedic team to provide custom recovery plans for each patient.

“Our orthopedic patients are offered a full continuum of services by our health system,” Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton Jr. said. “Patients can be assessed, diagnosed, undergo surgery and complete their rehabilitation, all with Thompson Health and all under a shared medical record system that allows our teams 360° visibility into our patients’ care.”

Thompson’s orthopedic surgeons specialize in non-surgical and surgical treatment of arthritis in major joints, including total joint replacement; orthopaedic trauma; orthopaedic tumors; sports medicine; hand, shoulder and elbow care; as well as complex foot and ankle care.

Stapleton said bringing orthopedic, urgent care, and rehabilitation services together in one, centrally-located plaza will provide a more convenient and unified patient experience. “This is what Thompson is all about – providing superior, patient-centered care,” he said.
