Farmington Medical Group Taking Shape

In 2023, two of Thompson’s current practices will combine into one new practice called Farmington Medical Group.

Providers and staff at both Farmington Family Medicine, currently at 5505 Route 96, and the Farmington office of Thompson’s OB-GYN practice, now at 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington, will join forces and make their new home in the Auburn Junction complex in Farmington.

The complex is currently under construction at 601 Carmens Way, off Route 332 and just north of the Cobblestone Arts Center.

Expected to open in September of 2023, Farmington Medical Group will be home to a 10,000-square-foot space with a total of 18 treatment rooms, an ultrasound suite, a family consultation room, and a lactation room.

“In this beautiful, larger space, we are poised for future expansion of both provider teams,” said Thompson Health Executive Vice President/COO Kurt Koczent.

On the OB-GYN team, the current Farmington providers are Dr. Jillian Babu and Physician Assistant Morgan Bessey. On the family medicine side, patients are currently seen by Physician Assistant Beth Beasley. Dr. Morgan Paul is slated to join Farmington Family Medicine this July and will be at the new location once it opens, with Beasley joining him.

Koczent noted the new, shared location will enable the OB-GYN providers to offer ultrasound – something not available at the current Farmington OB-GYN site – as well as additional in-office procedures.

These procedures will include colposcopies, which can prevent cervical cancer by detecting precancerous lesions.

Dr. Jillian Babu, an OB-GYN who sees patients at both the Canandaigua and Farmington locations, said she is excited about the new Farmington space because of the ancillary services they will be able to offer that they can’t now.

“For example, when we have an issue that is out of our scope of practice, there will be an additional team of primary care providers that can offer help. Also, on-site ultrasound has been such a useful addition to our Geneva and Canandaigua locations – I’m ecstatic that we will have that option now as well,” she said. “The building will really be able to take care of our patients start to finish – OB-GYN needs, primary care needs and imaging. It’s a pretty sweet package.”
